Alex Moomey believes in the joy of bringing ones own interpretations to an image. Inspired by contemporary photographers like Ryan McGinley, Gregory Crewdson, and Wolfgang Tillmans, Alex Moomey's photographs, with their nude bodies in natural, domestic, and sometimes urban spaces create a strong sense of light, texture and mood that suggest ambiguous narratives and explore the unexpected possibilities of staged scenarios.

Examples include images from Park at Night and Todd. Stark images of human solace, vivid saturated scenes of drama, and simplistic portrayal of objects from the everyday to the enigmatic ask the viewer to question their meanings.

The most recent works are two small series called The Backyard Chicken and The Sunday Morning Series. The former about four chickens, a friend named Eric, a chainsaw-made stool, a VR headset, and an old Smith Corona typewriter. The latter is a simple sort of exploration of the objects, light, and space using morning light.
